MoneyWell Express App Reviews

This app has grown long-in-the-tooth and needs an update. The last one was Dec. 2013! Not sure what the hold up is or if the developer has had to greatly curtail work on this as well as the desktop and iPad sister apps. But it’s never a good sign to invest in a program (especially a financial solution) that’s waited this long with no update. The UI needs an overhaul to match up with the iOS 8/7 standards as well as a possible TouchID solution. In addition, more robust data entry features are needed too. Still, it works very well both syncing and supporting the desktop/iPad main apps as a data entry point and a current status device.

I cant get this app to sync with my data on Dropbox. Love the desktop version, but this app has been VERY annoying seeing how I cannot even get it to start.

Moneywell Express does an excellent job if letting me enter transactions when they happen. I dont see it as a stand alone app but it works great as a companion to Moneywell on my Mac. I do wish it would allow me to transfer between accounts so I didnt have to remember to go back and do that later. I do want to respond to other comments about lack of development. We have heard from the previous developer and the one who has taken over recently and I have high hopes for the continuation of the Moneywell products.

Ive tried several envelope and traditional finance tools from Quicken to Mvelopes, Mint to Manilla, iBank to Yodlee. Moneywell is the best--hands down. My wife and I have just grown accustomed to thinking in terms of envelope or bucket budgeting. Traditional financial software doesnt work for us anymore. Moneywell is simple, it works, it has a Mac version that syncs with our iPads and iPhones. When we wonder "can we afford this," we know our financial picture in a snap. If you are an envelope budgeting, you have got to get Moneywell.

Quicken who? I love Moneywell and find it is much simpler to use. Syncs beautifully. I have it on all of my devices.

Love the desktop app and this app ties into that. I love the fact that I can enter transactions on the run and they sync back to my Mac. I wish more banks/debit cards could sync with the app and save me from typing a bunch!

Easy to use, syncs well with the desktop app via Dropbox. I would highly recommend this app for anyone serious about budgeting.

I love the Mac App. 5 stars. The iOS app is simply catching dust in a folder on my phone. The user interface is stale. No modern utility leveraging features that I would need. Disappointed in the lack up updates.

After I updated to iOS 9 Moneywell stopped working. Blank space, cant view or enter transactions. Unless it gets fixed I need a new mobile and desktop solution.

It doesnt work with iOS 9. All data is missing.

Moneywell and Moneywell Express have been serving well for several years. With the iOS 9 update, the Express version appears to sync with Moneywell but only displays blank screens where transactions, accounts, or buckets should be. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, deleted the sync file and recreated it, all to no avail. A request to support was answered immediately but the reply indicated they saw no issue. At this point, it is time to move on.

If you use the MoneyWell desktop app there is no reason not to use this quick and easy to use companion. With the iPhone app you can quickly add transactions and check your balances in your buckets (MoneyWells name for a virtual envelope system) as it wirelessly syncs if you connect each app to your Dropbox account.

Upgraded to IOS 9 and the app appears to work, but contains no information. I uninstalled and then reinstalled, and that has not cleared up the problem. Hopefully the app will be updated because it works flawlessly with the desktop version.

After updating to iOS 9.0, Honeywell Express no longer shows any data for me on the screens. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled, selected “show all data” but still no luck. Let me be clear, this is not entirely Moneywell’s fault. Apple must have changed something in the update that killed Moneywell for me. Also, I’m sure Honeywell is still working for many users. But let me get to the real point. Moneywell Express has not been updated in over two years. The only word I can use is neglect. I can’t help but think, if Moneywell had made some updates to its iPhone app in the last couple of years, this may not have happened. I can’t be the only person that relies heavily on being able to enter transactions on the go. Please Moneywell, give this app a little love. I don’t even mind purchasing an update if needed. I know you need to get paid for what you do, and I respect that. Just please throw some development our way. Thank you!

They are very slow about updating the app and now iOS 9 has made it unusable. Walk away from this one.

If you upgraded to iOS 9, then you, like me are anxiously awaiting upgrades. The good news, I received a detailed reply from the developer and all platforms of MoneyWell are going to get much needed upgrades. Despite the fact that the app crashes on iOS 9, Im keeping my 5-star review because independent devs need our support to stay in business.

Like many others since iOS 9 it will no longer display information on the synced apps iPhone/ipad versions. The sync is through dropbox and I can see the notifications for the clients synching so I know that it is getting the information. If this is like their other updates it will be a long time until this is updated to return this functionality. Every time this app breaks with an update from them or due to an iOS update it makes me wonder if I should look elsewhere.

Have tried to stick with this software through the years but every couple of months something goes wrong and their best comeback is "sorry for the inconvenience." I originally went with this program because their foundational principles but for all their good intentions this company just cant keep up with the constant updates of the age we live in. Ive had to restart my system on multiple occasions which doesnt put me in position to be the steward I desire to be. Dont waste your money because this company definitely wont put in the time to keep up their end of the bargain.

As others report it does not work in iOS 9. When it does its a great tool for budgeting. Im not sure the new owner can maintain Moneywell. Seems like he is a one man show. That didnt work before and its even more difficult now.
